Potential, Purpose, GoalsThis is an invitation to join me in navigating the classrooms of 7-12 grade students who are less than interested in any classic literature, grammar, or vocabulary lesson.
I am an energetic, inquisitive, coffee-loving Secondary English Teacher whose passion is engaging students in life's mysteries through literature, writing, and vocabulary. I don't expect everyone to get as excited about a freshly brewed cup of coffee, or a unit plan that utilizes popular images to create poetry (See Ekphrastic Poetry for more details!) as I do. However, I do expect that everyone has a dream, has goals, and has a desire to excel at their passions. This site is all about the knitty-gritty of teaching - the ups and downs, the successes and failures, and the quirky midnight Target runs for poster board and staples. As an English teacher an unique position is set before me: I have the privilege of guiding students through life's lessons via Shakespeare, poetry, grammar, short stories, and the incredible world of writing and self reflection. While challenges will always exist, I cannot imagine a better occupation and I am thrilled to join the educator community through this blog! My hope is that this space becomes a creative hive where teachers share their tips and tricks, collaborate on lessons, and share in reflection on the moments that keep us all going. |
So grab a cup of coffee and let's start a conversation!
More about the Author...
You can find me curled up with a good book and piping hot cup of cider or coffee when I'm not working on lesson plans or grading papers. I enjoy spending a lot of time prepping, baking, and tasting recipes! I am an outdoors lover, especially when taking walks or hikes with my German Shepherd, Daisy, and my sweet boyfriend, Spencer Smith. I love the beach in particular, and am most content when on the water. I believe in engaging in community wherever I find myself, and truly see my profession as a privilege- how incredible that I get to teach the future community leaders!
I am so glad you've joined me on my journey both inside and outside the high school classroom. Feel free to contact me with any lesson ideas, reflections, or questions! |
