Artifact Explantion
Augmented Reality is a means in which technology superimposes a computer generated image onto a users view of the real world. This enhances the user's ability to create a composite view of the world around them.
QR Codes are an example of Augmented Reality and they are a way to embed content into a square that can be scanned, which links to various forms of content ranging from videos, texts, websites, etc.
The students are able to access QR Codes through an app downloaded on Ipads or Iphones. The QR Codes can be scanned on a screen, a paper, or a poster. Students scan the code and are taken to the content via their phones.
The students are provided with a Canva Poster, which details that each student pair must download a QR reader app and scan each square to access content to further their understanding of the topic specified by their CoOp.
I chose to used qrstuff.com to create my QR Codes. Once creating an account I simply chose which type of content I wanted to create a code for, copied the link, image, or video into the allotted box, and then hit create. I was also able to change the colors of the QR codes as well.
The students will be learning more about Poverty, Hunger, and the Tenement Housing Project for this lesson. These QR codes were designed to give them a brief overview of each of these things.
Augmented Reality in the form of a QR code activity engages students in the way that it forces students to actively search for content and respond via texts, emails, and responses.
Augmented Reality fits into the Activities and Assignments element of Component 3c: QR codes are meant to be an activity that supplements or introduces material for a lesson.

Application
QR Codes will be an excellent addition to my classroom in future years. QR Codes provide a way to engage students in a review game, or in prefacing material. Additionally students can create their own QR Codes as a project to summarize learning, personalize learning, etc.
Providing QR Codes as a project option fits into a concept discussed in Curriculum Instruction, where the more options a student has in how they show their learning, the more likely a student is to personalize the learning.
I enjoyed searching for a variety of content for the QR Codes. It was neat to explore various ways of engaging students in learning, and exploring the various types of content available to educators.
